Experience

Mr. Ferree began work at Carolina Power and Light Company in June 1979.  He initially worked as an Energy Services Engineer, with primary responsibilities including residential and commercial HVAC analysis and project management of the residential appliance control program.  In 1986 Mr. Ferree moved to Rate Administration where he advised account executives on administration of rates and service procedures.  He also developed and implemented a training program for administration of new rate formats.  From 1989-2000 Mr. Ferree served as an Industrial Account Manager in Asheboro, North Carolina.  In this position he was responsible for unregulated sales, construction projects, rate negotiations, power quality issues and load forecasting.  The customer base consisted of 60 customers representing $35 million in annual electric sales.

In April 2000, Mr. Ferree joined Utility Technology.  At UTEC he has contributed to a variety of projects, including substation relay design, street lighting and distribution line relocations for NCDOT road projects.
Recent Projects
  • Provided design and specifications for controls upgrade at existing 3,200 kW diesel engine plant, to provide standby service for Operations Center, Easley, SC.
  • Completed design and specifications for 4,000 kW diesel engine generation facility, Georgetown, SC.
  • Havelock 230 kV and Person 500 kV transmission service substations, digital fault recorder design.
  • Distribution service substations relay design, Treyburn, NC and Lunsford Road, NC.​
  • Completed mechanical design and specifications for 10,000 kW diesel engine generation facility, Seneca, SC.
  • 230 kV transmission service substations, relay design, Wilson, NC, Marion, SC, and Greenville, NC.
  • Highway Conflict Distribution Line Relocations: NC Highway 55, Fuquay-Varina, NC; US 220 Business, Asheboro, NC; N. Harrison Ave., Cary, NC; Us Highway 70, Garner, NC; US Highway 64, Ramseur, NC; US Highway 401, Fuquay-Varina, NC.
  • CP&L, Negotiated rate options and coordinated transmission level service construction for customer installation of A 6,000 kW electric furnace.
  • CP&L, Managed rate negotiations and program implementation for transition of six customers to real time pricing rates.
  • CP&L, Provided Air Conditioning Contractors of America (AACA) technical training as requested by area heat pump dealers for participation in the Quality Heat Pump Dealer Program.
