Experience
Mr. Jones joined Utility Technology in 2008 as an Engineer-in-Training and has since obtained his Professional Engineering license. His experience is primarily in working with investor owned utilities in executing protection and controls (P&C) projects to improve the reliability of their systems. He works with construction crews, relay settings engineers and other stakeholders to complete these time-critical projects.
Recent Projects
  • Duke Energy—Dan River Steam Station—Deliver protection and control drawings for a new switchyard control building with relay and control for (8) 100kV lines, bus differential scheme and (2) autotransformers.
  • Duke Energy—Marshall Steam—Deliver drawings to implement protection and control scheme for a new 44kV line and 230/44kV transformer. Worked with plant personnel to integrate new SCADA system with both the steam plant and the switchyard building.
  • Duke Energy—New Shacktown Retail—Deliver protection and control drawings for a transmission/distribution station including transformer bank and distribution feeder relaying. Worked with construction personnel to incorporate their feedback into standard drawings.
  • Duke Energy—Glen Raven Main—Protection and control drawings to implement a new double bus tie scheme at a 100kV substation. Worked with Duke relay settings engineers to develop and implement new relay scheme.
